Komodo National Park is More than a Park.
Thousands of visitors from all over the world came to Indonesia for tropical climes, tropical beaches and unique cultures. Now day Bali is still a favorite one for visitors to be the place for their leisure time as Bali has many resort, beaches, bar, restaurant, culture attractions and many more fun activities. Here we would like to introduce you to the East Nusa Tenggara Province with the Komodo National Park as the main destination.
Komodo National Park is founded in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragons or Varanus Komodoensis (Scientific name) and any other creatures on this Island. UNISCO has declared the park as a World Heritage Site and on the 16th of May 2012, officially set to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World or the New 7 Wonders of Nature by the New 7 Wonders Foundation.
The park consist of three larger islands Komodo, Padar and Rinca, and 26 smaller ones. The entire Island is located within the Lesser Sunda Islands in the border region between the provinces of East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara. Total for the whole area is 1,733 km2 (603 km2 of it land).
When to visit the Park?
The time to visit Komodo National Park is anytime between March to December, as for the rest of the year it is the rainy season and the seas might be could get quite stormy. However, the weather could be changing sometimes so there still have any chance to be visited during that season.
How to get there?
Komodo National Park would be able to be visited by Flight from Bali directly to Labuan Bajo, western part of Flores, the main island of the area boasting the only airport. Then you need to transfer by wooden boat or speed boat to visit the whole Park. Or any other options that need little bit longer by Sailing boat from Lombok, through Sumbawa, Sape and any other islands, and the end is Komodo National Park.
For those who just looking for Komodo Dragons a visit Rinca might be enough to satisfy, with the small Island nearby for snorkeling. However If you’re more of an adventurer, we do not recommend a visit to Komodo National Park is enough.
